New York City Every time I listen to this song it makes me want to leave all my responsibilities and leave for the city of dreams. A trip to New York has been a dream of mine since I was a child. I have always wanted to visit the place of tall buildings, history and where culture is intertwined with its people. I wanted to live the busy life of a New Yorker, where I could be outside and see, smell and taste all the experiences this city has to offer. I have been building and building this ideal image in my mind for so long. If I ever go to New York, will I be disappointed by the city that never sleeps? The city that is part of almost every film I watch. Can New York live up to the expectations I've created for myself? In the summer of 2004 my dream of visiting New York came true. I couldn't contain my excitement at finally living the life of a New Yorker, even if just for a couple of days. The plane ride itself was torture, due to my seething anticipation of arriving at my destination. When the captain announced the drop off at New York airport, my stomach knotted. Arriving in town was everything I hoped it would be. My husband and I, of course, had a hard time finding our way around JFK Airport. We couldn't figure out the place where we needed to go to get our bags. My husband, I and all the passengers on our plane ended up outside the airport to access another part of the airport. Eventually things cleared up and we found our terminal where our bags were supposed to be. Finally, after about half an hour of being at the airport, we figured out how to get around the airport. As if we passed our first test, we... middle of paper...... are unable to see, due to time constraints. The one show I really wanted to see, but couldn't, was Ground Zero. Walking back to the hotel in the rain was one of my favorite parts of the trip. How nice it is to let your guard down long enough to let that child inside take over. My husband and I tried so hard on our walk to keep dry and squeeze into the shops when the rain got worse. My husband and I finally gave up all hope of staying dry. Instead we paid attention to the wind, splashed and played in the rain. It was like taking a walk while taking a shower. I know that when we both returned to our room there was no part of our bodies that were dry. I will forever have this memory in my head for the rest of my life. I will have many wonderful and exciting memories of my trip to New York. I know that if I never return to this city, I will always remember my experiences.
