Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior. Psychology includes many subfields of study such as human development, sports, health, clinical behavior, social behavior and cognitive processes. Many people go through hardships every day, some more than others; this could be related to a mental disorder or condition that affects the mind. This is why psychologists are important in today's society. They are always working hard to find new medications and treatment techniques that help make life a lot easier. Psychology has been around for quite some time, which is not at all surprising considering the fact that tons of people every day wonder why and how the brain works. how they do it. Psychology dates back to the ancient Greeks. There is evidence of psychological thinking even in ancient Egypt. Psychology was a branch of philosophy until the 1870s, when it was developed as an independent science. In 1879 Wilhelm Wundt founded the first experimental psychology laboratory at the University of Leipzig, Germany. Later, in 1883, G. Stanley Hall, a student of Wilhelm Wundt, founded the first American experimental psychology laboratory at Johns Hopkins University. Over the next few years, many discoveries and theories arose such as IQ testing, how dreams work, and children's behavior. The spark of psychology came in the 1900s with many discoverers and inventions that are used today to help treat many ailments and conditions. From studies on chimpanzees to the first neurotransmitter, the 1900s brought many discoveries in the field of psychology. Progress in Psychology is much like any other job. Employees can start by getting a raise with an employer and then perhaps one day owning your own private practice. All of this is achieved by working hard and doing your job. If your performance is good, you will definitely get progress. This project has really helped me understand my dream job better, I know what it feels like to have problems you can't explain and I would be more than happy to help others. The salary is good but the best part is helping a person, that's the real reward.
