Simple extracurricular activities like cross country and track as a whole remained a mystery to me since my school did not offer such activities. However, I was satisfied with the culture of Evangel Heights, because it is a pleasant culture. I still had friends, learned basic algebra, and even learned all sixty-six books of the Bible. What more could I ask for? However, as I continued to dedicate my time to the swim team, my attitude began to change. Although my shyness persisted, there was a small group of swimmers who offered me a place in their friend group. This offering was instrumental in becoming the catalyst for change in my life. My friends outside of Evangel Heights began to open new doors and development opportunities for me. Through my developments, I have overcome my fear of new people and learned how to interact with people with worldviews and beliefs very different from my own and use what I have learned to improve my
