Gregor is the focal point of the family, he provided for them when they needed money. Gregor has also thrown the family into turmoil with his change. Just as Gregor put them through hardship, he made the family grow. His death gave a new life to his family. Before Gregor's metamorphosis, his family was helpless and selfish. There was little significant interaction between them. Once Gregor became a creature, the family had to become resourceful and learn valuable skills. Gregor gave his family something that could bind them together, they argued almost every night about what to do with Gregor. Gregor's tragedy brought his family together. Gregor was a “savior” for his family, he played the same role that Jesus played for the world. Gregor's life was taken so that the rest of his family could gain salvation. His family had changed from a selfish and lazy group of people to a loving and caring family. As Gregor grew closer to death, his family grew closer
