The Movie Amadeus This article will examine the movie Amadeus, to see if the movie accurately depicts the story of Amadeus and the enlightenment of the characters. The period in which the film is set is the 18th century. There is a mix of social classes in this film. There are rulers and common citizens shown in this movie. The main characters of the film, Mozart, Salieri and Emperor Joseph, represent real historical figures. The movie was made in 1984. The movie was somewhat accurate to the characters and the era, but for the most part the movie never stated what year everything was happening. Some might say the time frame of the film was the 18th century, but I couldn't actually tell the exact year it was happening. For example, in a scene where Mozart's father visits him and his wife, we find out that she is pregnant. Later in the film he has a son. There was no reference to time in the film. You can say that months have passed through simple actions like the one in the film. Another example could be the time it took Amadeus to create his works. It is difficult to say how long it took him to create his works, as the footage showed. As for the characters, the film portrayed them well. There were things that felt right. For the way they showed Salieri killing Mozart. Searching for information about it, I could not find a fact stating that Salieri killed Mozart. As stated in Funk and Wagnalls New Encyclopedia “he died of typhoid fever at Venna December 5, 1791; His burial was attended by few friends and his grave site is unmarked. “This says nothing that Salieri was the reason for Amadeus' death. The movie is trying to market it as a murder story. But there was actually no murder in this movie. More like a man willing to die to finish something he believed was a work of art. The film depicts Mozart killing himself more than Salieri killing him. Some might argue that Salieri actually killed Mozart by dressing like his father to create the final opera. But this was Mozart's doing, as his obsession with having perfect music took over him. Don't get me wrong, the film did a good job of showcasing Mozart. It had historical and entertainment value. This film can be seen as a quick historical view... center of paper... The union with God differs from that of Mozart because Salieri did not envy God, but hated God for giving Mozart this gift. He envied Mozart because he was everything he wanted to be. In conclusion, this film gave a good representation of Mozart. Some parts of the movie weren't that accurate. Many small features could have helped the film become a more accurate historical film. This wasn't a historical film, it was more for entertainment value. If this movie wasn't as fun a movie as it was back then, it would never have been an award-winning movie. This was a fantastic movie. I liked it, I found it funny and touching at times. Before, I knew little about Mozart. After watching the film I learned more about Mozart. This wasn't a boring movie because I wanted to see what would happen. I would recommend watching this film. If anyone wants to have fun they should see it. If someone wants to learn something about Mozart they should see the film, but if they want to know the whole life of Amadeus this film won't do it. So basically, watch this movie for entertainment and to learn general information about Mozart.
