A good example of this is when Ravi teases his uncle. He describes his body and how his upper body is not proportionate to his lower body. He does this by making fun of his uncle's skinny legs (gender and sexual orientation). Beliefs and values are another mini concept that can be linked. This is clearly seen where the author tells us about the relationship between Pi's parents and Mr. Adirubasamy who Pi calls Mamaji. They are friends but Pi's parents don't like swimming, this is tension in their relationship. This is a concept where people have their own accepted preference over others. (values and beliefs). Another concept implicit in the film is individualistic culture. This is where a culture has its own values, personal rights, opinions, etc. A good example of this is that when Pi began to learn to swim he felt the water as if it were molten lead but over time he felt the water become liquid light.
