Like any other problem, child abuse has some causes that need to be addressed. Causes include poverty in the abusers' family, lack of sufficient education, marital problems, violence between family members, unemployment, inadequate housing, social separation and lack of family support. Some public attitudes also inspire child abuse. This includes supporting the use of violence and force, accepting physical punishment of children, racial discrimination, giving the public the singular right of "ownership", and the right to treat their children as they wish ( Lemoncelli). These attitudes play a major role in encouraging child abuse and must be changed to put an end to the vice of child abuse. Most abusers, who may be parents or caregivers, exhibit the following aspects. They lack good parenting skills, may be depressed, may be drug addicts, have mental illnesses, or have work pressures.
