Many know this, but sometimes it seems really compelling. An example of this would be when people know the release date of the shoe and wait hours for the store to open, only to get carried away by the trend. However, it has a life cycle because it spreads very quickly. For example, you can buy the newest shoe, but if two weeks have passed and a new model comes out, the shoes you just purchased are no longer in style. Therefore, each style has an expiration date. As we see the time and effort people put into purchasing shoes, we also find ourselves intrigued. Therefore, fashion is social, because we notice what people are wearing and copy it, which is known as imitation, like when people bought Jordan 1s because Michael Jordan wore them. This is linked to Simmel's idea because imitation gives the individual the satisfaction of not being alone in his actions, free from choices and appearing "simply as a creature of the group, as a bearer of social contents" (Fashion, 295). Therefore, it is through fashion and imitation that we find the sense of belonging to a group to which we have similar taste
