One reason is that some students are pressured into high school because schools are afraid of failing. Some students are not ready to graduate from high school, much less be ready for community college. Remedial courses are something that will increase if this proposal is implemented. By making community college free, it becomes more accessible to seniors who want to further their education and return to college. According to the Community College Research Center, 68% of students are required to take at least one or more remedial courses while 30% will never complete the course and drop out. I had to take several remedial math and English courses before I could actually get into a college-level course. I've always been a strong writer, so I felt that my remedial course didn't help me in my college-level English 101 course. Overall, with this new proposal, universities will have to make a greater effort to help students who are not ready for inclusion in the community
