It can make you feel sick, desperate and panicky. When teenagers lose their cell phones, they start to feel like life can't go on without it. However, they can actually function without their devices. In order for teenagers to realize that functionality is not lost, we need to reduce the amount of time they should actually use them. Another complication that occurs with addiction is that teenagers will be inclined to check their phone on numerous occasions. You might ask why is this a problem? Chances are, if a teen is addicted to their phone, they may not be able to resist checking it while driving. So, they started texting and driving, which is a leading cause of death in the United States. It should be noted that not all teens text and drive, but a significant amount do. Teenage drivers appear to be susceptible to distraction while driving, it is estimated that 16% of all drivers under the age of 20 involved in fatal crashes were distracted, the highest percentage of any age group (Hosansky 403). Limiting phone use can now reduce the severity of cell phone addiction, resulting in safer generations around the world
