Who are they?: Toni is the son of two factions, once called Marez and the Lunas. Toni is the youngest in the family, and Toni bonds mostly with his family and Ultima, but also with his friends at school and church. Thoughts: Toni thinks about her faith and God. She also reflects on what determines good and evil and what her destiny should be. He asks a lot of questions in his head about Christianity because he realizes in the book that there is more than one God, given as the golden carp. Furthermore, he also asks Ultima how she managed to heal people, when God or the priests couldn't. Actions: Toni goes to school and does catechism in church. He also goes with Ultima to learn about herbs and the spirit of the land. He loves to run across the bridge to school to race a kid called Vitamin Kid who always beats Toni. Every summer he goes with his friend Cico to see the Golden Carp, a pagan god that Toni has just discovered.
