During the course of my observations I noticed that there is a humanism when the teacher gives students options. This theory suggests that students will learn what they need and want, and as I mentioned earlier for Darian, the learning happens in his seat in his free time rather than on the carpet during group reading or work of group. As for existentialism, this is evident in the classroom when students exercise freedom of choice, usually Ms. Diaz gives her students choices such as writing about what we read or drawing about what we read, giving students a feeling of independence and collaboration regarding their education. Students usually begin their days by setting goals in class daily, which again allows students to make choices. Behaviorism is another theory I explore in this class, because Mrs. Diaz is very intuitive, makes many changes, and is not afraid to change her lesson plan or activities when they seem to be failing or failing.
