What inspired the inventors of the computer to invent it?The computer was invented for many reasons, but mainly to solve math problems faster. It was also invented for stocks and trading. When the computer was really needed it was during the Second World War to decipher secret messages from adversary countries and to help countries create new weapons. When people did mathematics, they could take minutes or even hours to do so using a slide rule, while a computer could take only a few seconds to solve the same problem. For stocks and trading, politicians had to use telephone, paper/snail mail, and over-the-counter trading. It took too long to complete and people worked too hard to keep up with the market. What elements went into the first American computer and how did they work? The first electronic computer was the ENIAC, which contained 17,468 vacuum tubes. These vacuum tubes were used as a semi-automatic switch to virtually represent the abacus with a ball on one side or the other. It also had an astonishing 70 thousand resistors (approximately). Resistors reduce the amount of electricity flowing in the supply current. Here they were used to prevent surges in some parts of the ENIAC. The ENIAC had approximately 10,000 capacitors to hold electricity in the machine for a very short period of time. This computer contained approximately 1500 relays along with approximately 6000 human-operated switches. Relays are used to change voltage, as with a thermostat and the air conditioner itself. Human-operated switches are used for programming. Hopefully your schedule isn't too long for this machine! This computer was soldered by hand and had an estimated 5 million soldered joints! These joints connect multiple parts of t...... middle of paper ...... in 1962: The first video game (Spacewar.) The computer mouse and Microsoft Windows were both created in 1964. The first The system ARPANET sharing processor was released in 1969. The Intel 1903 processor was produced in 1971. A very simple storage mechanism called floppy disk was also made in 1971. In 1973, Ethernet and networks were created. The Mark 8 and IBM 5100 computers were finished in 1974 and 1975. In 1976 and 1977, the Apple 1, 2, TRS-80, and Comodo CPD computers were made. Visicalc spreadsheet software was released in 1978, and Wordstar word processing software was launched in 1979. The IBM home PC was released in 1981. The MS-DOS computer operating system was also advertised in 1981. In 1983, the Apple Lisa computer went on sale, and the following year, the Apple Mac was launched on the market. Microsoft and Apple begin a friendly competition in 1985.
