Many people claim that they do not believe in any kind of god, that the world simply came into existence. However, this belief cannot be true. Simply by examining nature and all its intricate details, people are unable to deny the presence of a Creator. Deep down, people can't help but feel that there is something bigger than them. A Supreme Being - a god, but what kind of god is there? A god similar to Ares, the Greek god of war? One who craves blood and destruction? Or a placid god, parallel to Eirene, the Greek goddess of peace? Manufactured by humanity, these so-called “gods” all carry flaws. The Bible, the Word of the Lord, remains the only book on earth that gives an account of the true God and His attributes. Through examining the Word, readers will come to the realization that there is a righteous God, who sends tests to his followers to develop their faith, and who remains sovereign. Some argue that God allows the destruction of countries to occur because of hatred. towards humanity. This argument has some truth. However, God ensures the downfall of nations not because of His hatred towards people, but because of His intolerance towards their sinful actions. If God allowed the nations to continue in their iniquities without any kind of repercussions, then no one would fear Him. People would embrace sin and reject the Lord. God maintains His supremacy over man through the punishment of the wicked. However, God does not always destroy the unrighteous immediately and without warning. The Old Testament records a great many situations in which the Lord sends a messenger to admonish sinful nations and to warn them of impending doom. Whether or not they accepted the warning and turned… half the paper… this man doesn't understand why something happened doesn't mean that God didn't have full power over what happened. Common misconceptions about God run rampant. Some believe that He sins just like humans do. Others believe he desires the destruction of humanity. However, in reality, there is a just God, a Lord who tests the faith of His subjects, a Sovereign who controls everything. People often dispute that God has no power over the earth. However, God's sovereignty remains evident in the fact that countries fall when He decides to dismantle them. The fact that He disciplines the profane and prospers the deserving demonstrates His righteousness. Even though afflictions come, people must persevere and continue to look towards God. Even though life seems hopeless at times, God remains omnipotent. His love for His followers remains everlasting. His control over the earth lasts forever.
