The HR management plan outlined above covers key areas that require attention in the growth of the Merton Campaign Society. Using SMART analysis, the objectives of the human resource management plan have been set in a realistic and sustainable way. However, the plan could have been supported by key guidance on the funding available for HR activities and the mechanisms used in prioritizing HR projects. Additionally, a description of how the deadlines would be met would have helped clarify the plan. Furthermore, short-term plans should have been distinguished from long-term plans. Section Three The Purpose of Human Resource Management Policies in Organizations Human resources policies refer to a set of formal regulations and guidelines formulated by human resources departments to govern hiring, evaluation, training, compensation and dismissal of employees. Such policies and practices must comply with existing labor laws and regulations. Human resource management policies also cover equality and fairness, benefits, working hours and holidays, employee discipline, intellectual property and drug use. In the organizational context, human resource policies help establish organizational structure and culture. If certain policies such as those governing workplace safety, performance appraisal and evaluation, employee discipline, and working hours were eliminated, most organizations' work environments would be completely chaotic. In this regard, human resources policies regulate relationships between employees and interactions between employees and managers. Human resource policies are created to oversee employee well-being and ensure fairness (David 2004). The knowledge gained in this course will help me in my role as a human resources manager to effectively oversee the definition of my organization's human resources needs, as well as the effective management of my organization's employees. At the beginning of the course I did not fully understand the factors that the business environment plays on HR decisions. This unit has definitely been an eye opener in that regard.
