Nations collapse, churches and businesses fail, families become dysfunctional, children lose their way, and men turn away from God for a disturbing reason; lack of leadership. These failures are often due to a lack of education, proper leadership, and confusion about what Christian leadership is and how such leadership applies to every aspect of business and personal life. Webster's Dictionary defines leadership as an office or position, the ability to lead, the act or an instance of leading (Merriam-Webster, 2011). The leader is defined as; a person who directs a military force or unit, a person who has command authority or influence (Merriam-Webster, 2011). The Army defines leadership as the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction and motivation as they work to accomplish the mission and improve the organization. (Department of the Army, 2006 p. 1-2) Robert Clinton states, “The central task of leadership is to influence God's people toward God's purposes” (Clinton, 1988). George Barna defines a Christian leader as “someone who is called by God to lead; leads with and through Christian character; and demonstrates the functional skills that enable effective leadership” (Barna, 1997). It is unfortunate that we, as Christians, fail to recognize that Christ would have us be leaders beyond the church. Nations collapse for lack of divine leadership, many nations, although they have good leaders, fail because they take their eyes off God and focus on God. the world's version of success; they hoard their treasures in this world where they are easily destroyed, and they believe that worldly treasures are a sign of success and base their success on that. But God calls us to put… middle of paper… forced me to submit to that supervisor. Jesus empowered his disciples to perform tasks and to go out and fulfill their calling. Works Cited Barna, G. (1997).
