Technology has changed dramatically since before the 1990s. The first technological device to be created was the record player (Richtel). Record players were not popular in classrooms; however, the teachers took them from the school library. During this time many schools did not have record players because they were very expensive. Today, most technological devices used by students are very practical, and in the early 1990s, students were not allowed to go near or touch turntables. The next invention of technology for use in education was cassette tapes and players (Richtel). Cassette tapes were much more portable than record players. The Apple IIe was invented just before the 1990s (Richtel). The classrooms had a maximum of two computers. Many people today may be shocked that they only have two computers in the classroom because now there are almost thirty of them in a classroom.
