We must remember that in times of war what is said on the enemy's side is always propaganda, and what is said on our side of the front is truth and righteousness, the cause of humanity and a crusade for peace. Propaganda has been a part of the United States since we started the war; to when we fought in World War II, in Vietnam, and how that affected our news today. The media often claims that the purpose of the media is to offer an unbiased view of current events. This is nearly impossible to achieve because every piece of writing takes a certain angle on an issue. Propaganda is a powerful weapon in war, it is used to dehumanize and create hatred towards a supposed enemy, internal or external, creating a false image in the eyes. mind. Throughout U.S. history there have been many objectives that dominated the method by which propaganda was employed during the Vietnam War. The war had to be perceived as a threat to national security, which was relatively difficult due to the distance between the United States and Vietnam. Public support had to be sustained. Which was difficult not only because of the distance, but also because the American way of life had been virtually uninterrupted by the conflict. Our goals had to be clearly delineated, because the South Vietnamese regime that America defended contradicted some of our fundamental ideals. Furthermore, some people misinterpreted our actions as imperialistic. Promoting trust in government. Trust in the government was low due to the secrecy that surrounded the intervention from the beginning. Vietnam began as a remote, undeclared war that the American public had never been informed about. The death of civilians in a coup against the President Of...... middle of paper ...... king on an engine encourages American citizens to work harder so that the army has more materials, proving that even normal citizens can take part in war even if they weren't fighting. Another good example of this is the next poster, “Production” (gotta find this image). “Production” shows what the Americans' attitude was and what we fought for to win the war. This poster is bold and shows that if the people of the United States give strong help, they will win the war. Most posters like these were successful at that time because fighting wasn't everyone's thing, so this gave people the chance to help in more subtle ways. someone else, whether it's a company, an economic theory, a political party, the White House, Newsworld, or CNN.”
