I always like to remind myself to protect the environment by throwing away trash correctly the way my parents and teacher taught me. I had a teacher in fourth grade and she always reminded each of us why we shouldn't just throw trash on the floor and the consequences of doing so. He gave me some advice and said, “Every time you throw a piece of garbage on the ground, a fish in the sea will die.” When I was young, at first it seemed ridiculous to me and I said there was no way a fish would die because of me. But now that I think about it, most of our trash is never collected and floats away awaiting its journey to float in our ocean as if it were its destiny. It is our responsibility to protect the environment from the waste we create by throwing it in the right place. Waste is responsible for decreasing the life expectancy of marine organisms, creating consequences from its removal, polluting the entire ocean, and it should be a topic worth discussing. Our waste is disposed of in the ocean, which can dramatically reduce the population of marine organisms and affect the food chain. Marine organisms such as sea turtles, fish and otters are the main organisms easily contaminated by waste. Marine animals mistake the small particles for food or become entangled with them and this ultimately causes suffocation and death. For example, Edward Humes claims that garbage is the reason why marine animals die in the ocean due to suffocation: "Garbage is a huge problem, trapping and killing more than one hundred thousand marine animals and still large numbers of birds marine" (Humes 108). Plastic is the most common waste responsible for the death of our marine life... middle of paper... inputting waste into our marine life habits. Among the people I asked, one of them believes that nuclear waste could perhaps be more useful as it could generate additional energy once contained to use it as a power source, but the others disagree. Most people believed that nuclear waste should be treated in the right way, for example by petitioning against dumping it in the ocean, creating eco-friendly power plants, storing it in an underground repository, or teaching other people about the consequences of dumping it in the ocean. ocean. ocean. Together, we can find the ultimate solution to all the contamination we have created and help find a solution that attracts many people to join. I believe that one day we will work together and restore the natural process of waste management and I hope to establish this as a topic worth hearing in Congress!
