As mentioned before, the setting of this tale takes place in Granny Weatherall's deathbed with the pillow "under her", as pleasant as a hammock in a light wind ,” (Porter 86). The description provided by Katherine Porter allows you to imagine the setting. The setting reminds me of my grandfather as he spent most of his years on a bed being physically unable to walk on his own under the care of his daughter, Cornelia, which is very similar to my grandfather's situation when he was still alive. Just as Granny Weatherall was under the care of her daughter, my grandfather was under the care of my father, Cornelia is described as "respectful and good". (Goalkeeper 86). Grandma Weatherall's attitude towards Cornelia was harsh, as she hated the idea of being handicapped and denied the very fact that she needed anyone to take care of her, which is exactly how my grandfather felt towards my father. My grandfather spent most of his time complaining that he could do everything himself, when in reality he couldn't.
