The main purposes of advertising are:• to inform the public about new products and services offered by a company• to persuade people to purchase these products or use the services offered.• And to persuade or influence a desired action by the target audience. Advertising is a form of communication that attempts to persuade customers to purchase a particular product or service offered by brands. Many advertisements are designed to increase the purchase of a product or use of a service. There are many different ways to advertise. The most used are: radio, flyers, magazines, newspapers, internet and billboards. Brands use many different techniques to promote a product/service in order to inform a wider audience. In this essay I will analyze a perfume advertisement to see how it convinces the target audience to purchase the product. The advertising I studied takes the form of posters, although the advertised product is also promoted on billboards, magazines, and television commercials. The product advertised is a women's fragrance called “Delicious Night”. This perfume was created by the brand Donna Karan New York (DKNY), one of the world's leading fashion companies. The announcement has several recipients. The main audience the advert is aimed at is women aged between 18 and 35 who have an extroverted personality. This is represented by the model as she is 24 years old and falls within the age range of the product, in addition to this the name of the perfume, the entire advertisement and Jessica's dress suggest that the perfume is meant for women who love to go out in the evenings and celebrates regularly as she wears a dress designed to be worn during parties. Jessica's head is tilted slightly upwards from the cam......in the center of the card......bottles like the shape of other perfume bottles are more elaborate with intricate designs, in contrast this bottle it is very simple and futuristic. In conclusion, the entire advertisement is very successful in promoting persuasion of the public to purchase the fragrance. All the features of the advertisement have a specific purpose which is intended to persuade the audience to buy the product, for example the use of Jessica Stam modal creates the aspiration in women to look at her, therefore women will buy the perfume. The colors and indistinguishable composition seem to create a seductive atmosphere that suggests that the woman using it will have a fantastic evening like an A-list celebrity would. The use of a definite article denoting an object is as persuasive as all the others characteristics. Overall, my personal opinion is that this fragrance will be a huge success.
