Northern Native Americans faced many great difficulties with the arrival of the Europeans, Spanish, and French. The American Indians had thrived on American soil for thousands of years with great prosperity. Living together in a local economy and community Native Americans created a civilization that was in harmony with the land and the spiritual world around them. They were able to sustain their survival thanks to the living plants and animals that lived among them in this abundant country with all its rich resources. Many different tribes thrived on this land adapting well to the elements around them. They were able to use the only living animal that coexisted with their people and ensured that a good kill was worth the effort and danger that came with it. Native Americans were able to use every part of the killed animal, from skin to hooves, in an effort to survive and to counterbalance the spiritual world that had engulfed their heritage. The natives would give back to the world he had given them. With an unhappy future, the Native Americans were unprepared for the storm that was about to hit the shore. The Europeans would soon arrive and cause the death of the natives in more ways than one (Jones-Saumty). In 1492, Christopher Columbus was said to be the first to arrive on American soil from the East. Columbus would bring many new and different products never seen by the natives of this world. The Europeans and Spanish brought many goods for their survival to this new territory, such as plants and even animals.
