The vision of the future in the 1980s was filled with robots, hovercraft, flying cars and all kinds of high-tech innovations. Although society is not as advanced in technology, creation of humanoid robots, personal/business robots, and their vision for the future of robotics, Japan is close to realizing “The Future” according to the 1980s. Robotics in Japan is reaching a dizzying level, making its way into Japanese culture and the daily lives of many Japanese. Robotics is the study of robots, but what exactly is a robot? According to NASA “robots are machines that can be used to perform jobs. Some robots can work alone, other robots always have to have a person telling them what to do” (NASA n.pag.). For example, a conveyor belt in a factory would be a robot that can do the work on its own, but a crane would be a robot that needs human guidance. Japanese robotics is rapidly advancing with the production of high-tech technology and currently leads the world in the field of robotics. Humanoid robots are robots made to look, behave and move like...
