“Bang!” the newspaper hit the door. “Honey, you can get the paper!” my mother screamed. I was in my room listening to my iPod and doing homework. I ignored her and continued listening to my music. My mother, Bogogrape, got angry and took the paper. I heard his voice with slight irritation: “Bojoby, you can come here. Now." "Yes mom, come right away." I shouted as I went down the stairs. "Look at this!" my mother pointed to a newspaper ad: "these scientists will give $1,000,000.00 to every person who tries to participate to a clinical trial. You know how much money that is!” my mother exclaimed, she knew this was our chance to pay off our debt and live in Ruby Hills. “We should definitely do this, where and when will it be?” I asked. “It's at PESE, or Pleasanton Extreme Scientific Experiments. Do you want to go now, starts in an hour or two?" my mother asked, smiling. "Of course!" I shouted. This was our chance to get rich, someone would have refused. We got into our little minivan and went to PESE. We went inside and the receptionist directed us to a room full of people in white coats and operating rooms. There were signs pointing us to the information room. There were thousands of desks, each with a pamphlet on them. There were speakers in the room and I could see the scientists standing on a stage. They started talking and because there were so many people, they couldn't accept them all. It would be too much money. They explained that everyone's names would be put into a lottery and that one lucky person would be chosen. They said we would be called up if we won. Unfortunately, my mother and I went home. I continued to do my homework and my mother prepared dinner. We had dinner in silence and went to bed my mother was… halfway there… she quickly arrived and examined it. Bojoby had damaged his tongue and part of his brain's hearing. They had to write down the news on a piece of paper and show it to him. When she read the words she burst into tears knowing she would never hear or speak again. He started panting and the heart monitor he was attached to started beeping rapidly. They quickly took Bojoby to an operating room. It took at least three hours while her mother waited for the doctor in the waiting room. Finally the doctor came in. “I'm sorry, but he had too much brain damage. There was nothing we could do." The doctor said in a low voice. Bojoby's mother began to cry in the waiting room. The following week Bojoby had a small funeral and was buried in the city cemetery. His mother sued the company and used the money to make a small statue of Bojoby. It still stands today in front of his tomb.
