Essentially it means that society is reluctant to embrace new things like technology, trends, things of that nature. For example, before video games, people blamed rock music for violence among citizens (Bezio 1). Before that, people accused television of violence. We as people are horrible at providing answers when a problem immediately emerges that we can't understand. This is why we have a cultural delay, we prefer to point fingers rather than find the solution. Hundreds of studies have been conducted to try to find the connection between violence and video games. All tests gave the same result, no concrete evidence that video games make people violent (Bezio 2). Why do we keep testing? It's because scholars and politicians keep pointing fingers, telling us that video games are the reason people in the gaming community act violently. When they themselves probably have little to no experience with video games. Even if you took video games out of the equation, we'd still do it
