There are many reasons why the play was funny; one of the main reasons was the staging where you would have the actual audience, the court on stage and on the original stage you would have the mechanics perform. The other reasons why Shakespeare creates humor concern the characters (fairies, court and mechanics) and the repetitive and incorrect use of language and errors. An example of this would be when in scene 1 of act 5 Bottom says “O dark-looking night, O night…….O night, O wall”. This shows how ignorant Bottom is and that he is terribly bad at acting.
