Game Console Comparison Playing video games is one of the most popular ways to relieve stress from work, school, or other family problems. However, there are many varieties of games: console games, PC games, board games and many more. One of the most popular types of games, however, is the console game. Among all the consoles, PS2 is the best. This might be a little blunt, but I have my reason for saying it. We will discuss this later. But first, what is the PS2? Why are console games so popular until now? Here's a little history of why console games have been so popular since the first console in existence, the Japanese gaming company's Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1985. Nintendo has done a good job in marketing the first console game in the past selling thirty million dollars worth of merchandise in the United States and ninety million dollars worldwide. This successful console gaming business changed the gaming industry so much that soon Sony, another major Japanese electronics company, launched its first console called Sony Playstation in 1995. This console dominated the market so much that Sony is managed to sell more than ninety million dollars by 2002. As the battle of console gaming continued, an important fact that was inevitable called the “excitement period” occurred. After a while people will get bored of the same type of machine with the same capabilities. This is why Nintendo has started the practice of releasing a new console every 5-6 years. It released the last updated Nintendo console called GameCube (2000) after Sony's release of Playstation two (PS2) in the same year. The popularity of these console games pushed Bill Gates, CEO of the large company Microsoft, to enter the console gaming competition by launching the Xbox in the same year. These three consoles have been fighting each other for 4 years now, and people at many times are confused as to which console is best. This is why I'm interested in comparing all three consoles based on these three categories: Game Play (the variety of games available, ease of use, and user age orientation), specifications, and price. I put gaming as my first priority because no matter how advanced the console is, if it's not playable, there's no reason for it to exist.
