Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria, on January 27, 1756. His parents were Leopold and Maria Pertl Mozart. Leopold was a successful composer, violinist and concert assistant at the Salzburg court. Wolfgang's mother was born to a middle-class family of local community leaders. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart played numerous types of instruments at an early age. At the age of six Mozart was already an advanced keyboard instrument performer and violinist, while demonstrating improvisation and sheet music reading skills. Her father Leopold decided to educate his only daughter Maria Anna “Nannerl” as a source of income. In 1762, her father, Leopold, brought Nannerl at the age of eleven and Wolfgang, at the age of six, to the court of Munich and Vienna. In 1763 they undertook a long three and a half year journey to the courts of Paris, London, The Hague and Zurich performing as child prodigies. Ironically, Mozart's father was not sure of Mozart's talent. Mozart showed interest and while his father taught his sister, he learned. His father saw that he had an interest in learning and in the field of music. He became acquainted with very famous orchestras and the style of Mannheim, French music in Paris, the gallant style of Johann Christian Bach and Johann Sebastian Bach's younger son. The journeys were so long that they had to stop often; Wolfgang and other family members became so ill that they had to reduce their performance schedule. At the age of 13, Wolfgang and his father left for Italy in December, leaving his mother and sister at home. Nannerl's professional musical career was over, she was of marriageable age and due to the time period she could not express her artistic talent in public. In Rome Wol...... middle of paper ......ozart was in serious financial difficulties. Mozart hung out with European aristocrats and thought he could live like one of them. Towards the end of 1785, Mozart met the librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte, a Venetian composer and poet with whom he collaborated on the opera The Marriage of Figaro. The Opera received a successful premiere in Vienna in 1786 and was warmly received in Prague. Later, in 1787, they created the opera Don Giovanni which was premiered due to its musical complexity. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart died on December 5, 1791 at the age of 35. The cause of his death is still unclear due to the limitations of post-mortem diagnosis. The documents list the cause as military fever due to a rash he had on his skin. However, the hypothesis was that Mozart died of acute rheumatic fever, an illness from which he suffered throughout his life.
