Topic > Technology: The Negative Effects of Technology and…

Over the years, technologies have been improved to increase productivity and decrease labor; However, a worldwide concern is evident when hazardous waste resulting from spills and discharges occurs due to negligence and lack of technology control measures. Air, water and noise pollution essentially contribute to environmental pollution through CO2 emissions, waste disposal in water systems and weapons testing/use, respectively. The depletion of natural resources creates an imbalance in the economy as industrial activity increases. The environment is exploited with the extensive extraction of oil, coal and minerals; trees are transformed into lumber; and wildlife habitats are endangered due to agricultural activities such as deforestation. Many of the technologies we use every day also consume larger amounts of resources and energy than necessary. The continuation of human activities through the use of technology will eventually cause ecosystem collapse, unless we allow the ecosystem to recover by being more
