Topic > The Importance of Patience and Saving Money

From the age of six, Americans begin attending school. They will spend most of their time in this learning environment until they graduate from high school and possibly college. During this time, people are educated on different topics in the hope that it will help them live a profitable life. What better way to solve a problem than to teach people about the causes and how not to be fooled? The current housing crisis could have been avoided if the American people had been properly educated on how to handle their banking and lending situations. However, due to the mentality that people should buy what they cannot afford, America has been in a continuous recession for many years. On another note, banks need to adjust how loans are made, as well as the programs set up to repay them. There is no quick fix to this problem, but you need to make a long-term investment. Instead of investing millions of dollars that the government doesn't have into a possible solution that may or may not work, I propose that the government implement an educational course in an attempt to rethink the way Americans think. Everyone is aware of the problems that have been caused by interest rates, credit cards, and the quick fixes that have attempted to solve the problem. The problem with most of these solutions is that the money used is not currently available money. Sure, you can print more, but that lowers the value. The fact of the matter is that investing money to solve a problem won't solve it. In fact, it only makes the problem worse. It shows the audience that it's perfectly okay to spend money they don't have because everything will be okay in the end. It's not like that. Until a few decades ago everyone believed in patience and saving. Nowadays, people want everything right away. Technology has continued this message with everything just a click away! If people knew that saving money was the best way to get what they wanted, the foreclosure problem wouldn't be such a serious problem. Instead, people go out and spend money they don't have. The public needs to be educated on how to get the best deals and get the most bang for their buck.
