In my opinion, all the leadership theories have been well thought out and will work in different peculiar situations and environments. I would advise that for effective leadership, leaders must first understand themselves, their environment, their followers and finally each situation at hand as they all present themselves differently. Situations requiring the competency and skill-based approach should attract this approach. I have also come to understand that being situational is sometimes difficult for leaders who have fixed beliefs about what leadership should be, especially if these beliefs have been formed through successes achieved using particular leadership.
