For my project to study an independent novel, I chose to create a cover of the book Le Chrysalis. A book cover cannot target a specific audience; however, I built mine to target people in the 12-18 age range. I chose that specific group because the main character, David, is in that group when the story is told; therefore, the audience can relate to the characters on a personal level. It's very obvious that my vision is deconstructed. In the lower half of the first floor there is a church, a mountain range, several farms, and a carriage pulled by the large horses mentioned in the book. In the upper half in the foreground are several buildings, a billboard, an airplane, and a giant helicopter-like device. There is also a boy, who I drew to represent David. The boy has a bandage on his neck which he had lowered. This action symbolizes that David is being shown that the true image comes in many forms, including deviations, and no one knows if a true image truly exists.
