First, every two minutes someone in the United States is sexually assaulted, according to the Rape Crisis Center. “Girls between the ages of sixteen and nineteen are four times more likely to be raped than the general population.” (RCC) I can't even imagine what some of these women are going through. These men take away these women's peace of mind and hope by making them always look behind them when they walk down the street or even at the mailbox. Being raped makes these women not even want to leave the house because it makes them think it could happen again. Most women abuse alcohol, drugs or commit suicide after being raped. Many men rape for control rather than for sex. Rape is an assault by a person using sexual intercourse or sexual violation of another person without his or her approval. Rape is considered a serious sexual crime, as well as a human assault. Men who become rapists are known to grow up in an environment where they are abused, molest themselves, or see their mothers or siblings go through it. Therefore, their innocents are taken away during their childhood and adolescence because they are unable to get help or get out of the situation. As a result, most men with this experience become rapists. They feel like they are taking control and dominating when they rape their victim. They look for a victim who reminds them of their mother or siblings as children. In fact, sexual violence happens because men are angry, have no control over anything, are addicted to sex or simply depressed. It hurts me to know that men find gratification by raping women. Most rapists enjoy the sexual excitement associated with inflicting pain on the victim. Torment, misery, anguish, anguish, helplessness, suffering and... middle of paper... the things these men invent are so outrageous and immoral. It's as if you not only rape me and severely scare me for the rest of my life, but also have the nerve to tell me that I'm worthless and that I should kill myself. Forced sex is aroused by revenge and compensatory actions then by sexual ones. I feel like no one will ever know the real reason why men rape because not all humans are the same. Some do it for sex, some for power, and some for both. All in all, it's a bad thing to do and the rapist should be penalized for his actions. “Viewing rape as an expression of sexual desire is not only an inaccurate concept but also an insidious assumption.” (Groth) He's basically saying that men don't rape for pleasure, but because they want to have power and feel in control of the situation. Everyone has their own opinion on this crime.
