Topic > Causes of Procrastination in College - 1645

Students don't always go to college for the right reasons. Some college students don't even have the desire to attend college. So they participate for a variety of other reasons. Some are there to impress their parents. Some are just there to do the bare minimum to get a degree. Some students are just there for the financial aid money. When this happens, a lack of motivation occurs because they go to college for the wrong reasons. On the other hand, some college students are not in their preferred profession. For example, if students come from a family with a long history of doctors, lawyers, teachers, or any other profession, they may be forced or expected to follow in their family's footsteps. This can cause students to be very unhappy and unmotivated with what they are being taught. If students are not in a profession of their choice, there may be no interest in learning. They will do the bare minimum just to get a passing grade. Since students please others and not themselves, a lack of motivation can show up in all their work. There is simply no excitement or enthusiasm to learn. This can lead to students procrastinating on doing their work
