In the following document, I will describe an ethical violation that occurred in the place where I work and provide the outcome of the ethical violation according to the code of ethics in place at EDMC. Additionally, I will describe the steps that EDMC has developed for reporting a violation and how you can report the violation even if you do not obtain closure through the appropriate channels. The story I'm about to tell is what happens when you don't have a clear understanding of ethical policy and you unknowingly violate the policy. a custodian who has worked for the university for 7 years. He was a hard worker and was diligent in doing his job. When I ran the bookstore, he often came just to say hello. He was a single father with several children and worked hard to make ends meet for his family. She went to work on a Saturday to clean carpets for college and as she walked to her car in the parking lot she came across a distraught student who had locked her keys in the car. He said he couldn't reach his parents and didn't have enough money to call a company to open the door. She was very upset because she was new in town and didn't know anyone, so she was afraid of being left in the parking lot until she could find her parents to pay for the car to be unlocked. She didn't understand the ethics policy told the student that he could open her car and she agreed, saying she would pay him the thirty dollars she had in her possession. Conclusion As can be seen, the way in which T's breach was handled was clearly in line with how ethics breaches are to be addressed in the Employee Code of Ethics Document. The correct chain of command was followed and Human Resources was contacted to assess the situation before a decision was made on how to handle the breach. The measures taken by South University demonstrate that it takes the code of ethics seriously and is committed to protecting the student from this type of violation and preventing the damage it may have caused to the college's reputation.
