Topic > The Importance of Honey Bees - 1089

The main concluding statement was that there was no universal factor explaining the decline of honey bees, in all the research provided. Despite this, as mentioned above, numerous factors were involved (from pathogens, to weather conditions, etc.). This makes the possible extinction of honey bees not necessarily typical, but rather baffling. However, on one specific aspect of the topic, that of bee colonies, the author believes that if "unusual colony losses" were to be explained in the future, research should be shifted to further measures such as: "molecular pathology of bees focusing on the host (vector)-pathogen" (Verlang-Springer 2010). For not all colonies are explainable, despite what the author and other researchers may know or have known at one time
