Gabriel Garcia Márquez wrote One Hundred Years of Solitude originally in Spanish in 1967, but has since been translated into many different languages, becoming a literary must for some. years of solitude has a lot to offer with hidden meanings and many literary ideas expressed in a creative way common. This was always present in One Hundred Years of Solitude when many abnormal things happened, but in the life they had it was common; like when insomnia took over the city and all the people were happy and excited that this phenomenon was happening writing style was called magical realism. Today this style of writing is much more common and an acceptable form of writing. However in Márquez's time it was rare and not many people wrote in this style. One Hundred Years of Solitude sees many different characters come in and out of the story, seven generations of it. It all started with the founder of Macondo, Jose Arcadio Buendia and his wife Ursula Iguarian and their bloodline spans seven generations for the entire length of the novel. Macondo being the only town ever present demonstrates the isolation that is ever present with everyone. Additionally, children keep their fathers' names, so they almost all have the same name. In conclusion, this shows a continuous cycle of events repeating and shows one of the main themes of this story. This story has many different meanings, all of which must be interpreted in their own way.
