People may think speech pathology is easy, but it is difficult unless the knowledge is exceptional. People are truly overwhelmed when they find out what skills and courses are needed to become a speech pathologist. After people see the paycheck their eyes light up. It is confirmed that speech therapy is such a tough career that most people do not specialize in it. A speech pathologist helps patients with speech impediments, speech, communication and swallowing disorders along with cleft palate and lip defects. Speech impediments are a type of communication disorder in which normal speech is interrupted. this is usually seen when people stammer or stutter, sometimes these impediments leave people mute. Swallowing disorders or (dysphagia) involve the lack of muscle movement or coordinated muscle movement or sequence that helps swallowing or speaking. Cleft palate and cleft lip deal with birth defects that occur when the baby's lip or mouth does not form properly during pregnancy. Cleft problems cause problems forming words or trying to pronounce a word, and also with feeding. To become a speech-language pathologist, students must take courses in linguistics, biology, anatomy, physical sciences, social behavioral sciences, phonetics, human development, mathematics, semantics, and communication sciences and disorders are available in an undergraduate degree program. To become a speech pathologist, people must successfully go through clinical studies and earn a degree and there is a movement to now require a doctrine to run their own business or to have other language pathways working underneath them.
