Topic > Analysis: Modern Prometheus - 1710

Prometheus suffers because he steals fire from the gods to help humanity, but this angers Zeus and punishes Prometheus for eternity. He suffers for eternity because he tried to help his creatures, he wanted to enlighten them. Frankenstein fails to be present for his creation, he never “compassionates him enough to be there and never took responsibility,” so he suffered at the hands of his creation (Hustis 112). His creation made sure he suffered as much as he could by killing his loved ones. If Frankenstein had taken pity on his creation, similar to how Prometheus did, he could have helped his creation live in that world, but because he didn't, his creation ended up resenting him and became ensured that he suffered for his creation.
